I just recieved a used but perfect New American Vintage Series Oblong Case made by TKL and my A Jr. fits in it snug but verry well suported, although I do not like the area where the strap button on the neck just touches the case and would like to keep this case if I can give maybe a half inch of room.

This case is lined with a firm foam and I was thinking of compressing it a bit with a piece of round stock in place and striking it with a hammer to form a reliefe area where needed. has anyone ever thier something like this?

I guess I could remove the cloth and carve out what I need but this idea came to me and thought I would throw it out there are see what info I can come up with.

Thanks
Dano

You should be able to pull the fabric loose right in the area where the strap button fits, and remove a bit of the foam with a serrated knife. Find a piece of matching fabric and glue it in place, and cut the existing lining and glue the ends to the new fabric lining the enlarged area.
If you need a very slight amount of clearance, mashing the foam might work, but it may gradually spring back, and if you need much room, you'd be ahead to trim it.

I'd be tempted to simply poke a hole with a needle and try to whittle away some of the foam with the needle to create the recessed spot. No sewing, and if done right you wouldn't be able to see it. The flakes will fall down and away.
