Anybody have the basic body dimensions for the Gibson H5 mandola?Approximate top graduations would also be a big help.
Any and all appreciated.

Roger Siminoff has a good set of plans. Reasonably priced, too.
Wouldn't hurt to have if you plan to build a mandola.

I think I took a few basic measurements of an H4, and I think I know which note book they're in. I suspect the body dimensions are the same, and I'll try to find what I have.

Found 'em.
This is Gibson H4 #33607:
Body width 11"
Body length from binding "cross piece" to end 13 7/8"
Body length from neck heel to end 14 5/8"
Body length total, including scroll ~16"
Rim width 1 11/16"
That's all I have.

I have a a very fine reproduction H-5 by Paul Duff. Do you have his contact info? I don't at the moment as I am in my office and the info is at home. I'd imagine that he would graciously help out a fellow Aussie.

John,
Thanks for that, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be changing the s.l. to ~17". Basically I thought I'd "blow out" an f5/f4 to mandola specs. I just needed to know the limits. I've still got a plate of Tasmanian King Billy Pine up on the shelf waiting for a project like this. I hope I am able to squeeze that "florintine hook" in there (fingers crossed!).<g>
