southern illinois jams or festivals

Anyone know of any groups that play in (far) southern illinois? or know of any music festivals going on around here. There is a pretty good one next weekend in Harrisburg called bluegrass and BBQ

I played at the Ft. Kaskaskia Tradational Music Festival on Saturday just north of Chester but I guess it's just a little too late to mention that now. The band i'm in is The Men of the Week and we are just across the river in eastern Missouri.

went to ft. kaskaskia i think in 98...was pretty good...pretty far from us here though... were close to the harrisburg,IL area. my wife's parents went to it all day saturday and said they really liked it too. george portz and the friends of bluegrass played there too. we try to catch them wherever we can. We saw them a few weekends ago at murphysboro apple fest. they have a good fiddle and banjo contest each year...waiting on them to throw in a mando. contest!

We have played a couple of George's festivals but they were up around the St. Louis area though.

November 7,8,9, is the Downstate Bluegrass festival at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Springfield IL. Lots of big names and great jamming. See ya there.
