I was just reading my brother's B*** Newsletter (nice quality!), and it features Noam Pikelny who just left Leftover salmon to join JC. #It says that he is joining JC, Wayne Benson, Luke Bulla, & Jeff Autry....

Wow, that sounds like a great band!

Anybody have any other info?

Eric

Does that mean Rex McGee is no longer with him? Rex played banjo and fiddle>

I just saw them on the 3rd. I was disappointed. The sound guy, they brought their own, did a horrendous job. A friend of mine opened for them and they sounded great, so the potential was there. Noam sounded great. Interesting sounding banjo. Luke was good too. Wayne never really had the chance to showcase his mando playing. He pretty much chopped his way throught the show. John said they hadn't been playing together very long and it showed. I talked with Noam after the show and he said Leftover salmon was taking a break at the end of the year and that they were pretty burned out having not taken a real break for some time. He has a couple gigs left to play with them. One of them is going to be at Bean Blossom in Sept. I was actually impressed with John's vocal ability. Hopefully, they'll get it together the more they play together.

Noam Pinckley is one of the finest banjo players in the world. He's very progressive yet his roots are solid in bluegrass. I'm a long time Leftover Salmon fan! Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmons mandolin, lead guitar, violin player) is amazing he really is special. He's in my opinion the finest newgrass player to come along since Newgrass Revival.
