Thursday night I was at the Americana Music Association awards. Sam Bush came out and played a number and a few acts later Thile came out and played a number.

I have to admit I was a little put off because they each only got one song. I think its a general conspiracy to hold a good mandolin player down.... but... I have to temper my conspiracy theory with the fact that most everyone else got only one song.... so.... maybe I'm just biased.

Sure was neat to get to see both those guys in one night.

I don't remember to be honest. Thile came out with the bass player to promote his new record (there's a post on that below) and he was just non stop fast. Bush played a blue grass number and all the guys in the band took turns playing. Definitely not enough mandolin in that number <GRIN>

I listened to that on Amazon...they aired the show. If I recall correctly, Sam did Riding That Bluegrass Train. I can't recall what Thile did.

Last year about this time I saw Sam, Edgar Meyer("the bass player") and Jerry Douglas one night..then nickelcreek the next. Probably the best back to back music nights I will ever have
