I'd like to get an Epiphone Mandobird but I have no amp of any kind. Can anyone suggest a good *cheap* one and where to buy it from please?
Thanks!

Yep. That answers the questions. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
I don't know what your comfort level for buying on line is, but I have had great luck on eBay. I think you would like many of the practice amps available there. I have bought and sold quite a few there. What type of amp are you looking for? Home/practice or gigging? What is cheap to you? I have paid $75.00 and under for a bunch of amps.

I'm fairly comfortable with buying online and cheap to me is 75 and under. I'm looking for more of a practice amp not a performance amp.
Thanks!

that's easy: line6 spider III 15w. #just $100 at any big-box or small-box music store. good size for practice, and loud enough to scare the kids if you really want to. built-in effects that make it even more fun to mess around with, and so you dont have to shell out bucks for effects pedals while you're learning.
unless you REALLY dont want built-in effects, this is easily the best bang/buck ratio out there.

Yes, the Line6 seems like a cool little amp. I'd try one.
Since I got a Line6 SpiderIII I haven't used my Fender Blues Jr.

Roland's microcube, runs off batterys has some guitarish effects.
Street Cube is offering a Mic channel to sing thru your 58.
