I had a day off on my trip last week to England and visited the Acoustic Music Company in Brighton, England, an easy train ride from London followed by a 30 minute walk from the station. #Trevor wasn't there, but I met Ed and we had a great talk about guitars and mandolins. #

I played several instruments, but two instruments really grabbed my attention. #A Capek Mandola and the Brentrup Stealth. #The Mandola had a great sound all the way down to the C string, and if I were in the market for a mandola now, that is where I would be looking.

But the Brentrup had to be one of the best sounding instruments I have ever played. #It has an unconventional styling, but it is very beautiful to behold, it fits well in my hand, and it sounded terrific. #Next time I get any money...

The comment on the Acoustic Music Company's website about the Stealth was:"I am going to take some persuading to part with this one, its the ugliest, worst sounding mandolin I've ever heard…" Don't believe it!

Thanks to Ed for his hospitality. #By the way, where do I send my application to get his job...he works in a guitar and mandolin shop a half a block from the beach. #Can't beat that for a living!

Unfortunately, you're just a bit too late!

Until fairly recently Trevor was recruiting for a new shop manager.

I assume that's the job that Ed got and it sounds like Trevor has made a great appointment in getting someone with good knowlege and excellent customer skills.

Ed is my part-timer, he's been with me for 5 years. Michael (Watts, winner of Guitar magazine acoustic guitarist of the year a few years ago), the new manager started two days ago. He's going to be recording clips for all the high end guitars to put on the website and various other web/computer stuff.

We will at some point get clips of mandolins on the website too.

Jack, sorry I missed you, it was my first day off in 5 months!

Jack,i'm pleased that you enjoyed your visit to TAMCO. It's the best shop in the UK for Mandolins without exception. It's a pity you missed the illustrious Trevor,he was most likely playing one of his secret stash of mega-mandolins (only joking),but he is a great guy (creep, creep !).
I'm pleased that you liked the 'Stealth' & it's nice to have read your comments. At the price,it's got to be one of the best bargains in Trevor's store,
