I just visited the Gibson factory/ store in Nashville.
I spent alot of time talking to C.D. Vest (Big Joe's son).
Boy oh boy he is a heck of a nice guy and a wealth of information.
I now know what my next mandolin is...A Gibson!
If you ever get a chance to visit that store you better do it. They build mandolins in the factory attached to the store. I watched them attaching necks and working on the scroll of some pretty mandolins.
I saw C.D's MOLDRUSH ...which is a goldrush that is a unique color and a wonderful story of how that came about. It sounded great!
I left just blown away. Well I have to sell a couple of mandolins real quick. I have my sights on an A9 that I must have. Anyone need a Rigel Q95 or a J Bovier? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

C.J.'s mandolin is "funkier than a mosquito's tweeter," as Ike Turner would say. He's a really nice guy.

I was able to play about 30 gibson mandolins and they all sounded and played great.
A nice laid back experience. I am going back tomorrow....oh my I fell MAS coming on real real hard.

Here it the candy store from the outside. I went up this past Tuesday and got to play a couple of the Ricky Skaggs F-5's and was impressed. Now here comes the part where I get flamed on...I still like my 92 Flatiron F-5 Artist better. It just has a richer tone. The store is layed out very well and is a good place to visit and watch the instruments being assembled. They also have areas set aside to play the instrument before you buy one. There was no pressure since the name sells itself.
