I found a Washburn M120SW at a local store for $1200 out the door. Is this a good deal? Is is worth it? I almost bought it and was then going to post this question. I've got MAS bad!

Okay, I found this online for $899. But is it worth it to get it from a local store that stores it in a humidifier and set it up for me?

I may be able to talk them down more...

[1] #Always good to support local dealers -- you get support, adjustments, strings/straps/accessories, you keep 'em in business, and you show 'em that there is a market for acoustic instruments in general and mandolins in particular.
[2] But -- is it $300 (33%) good? #That's a lot of strings, picks, good vibes etc. #List price on this instrument (from the Washburn website) is $1500. #That generally means the dealer cost is about 50% of that ($750). #An on-line dealer is willing to make $150 on the deal (20% profit). #Your local store needs to do better than that, wants to make $450 (60% profit). #Could be some negotiating room there. #You also need to figure in shipping costs, sales tax, etc.

I buy locally whenever possible, but I've been doing it so long and so prolifically that I usually get a "deal" from the stores with which I've dealt in the past. #See what your local dealer will do.

I bought the Washburn M120SW last night. I now am the proud owner of 2 mandolins! I talked them down to $1050, which is still higher than online, but it's a local store and I get free maintenance on it and it was set up for me on the spot. I think I got a good deal considering.
