A dear friend who is now living in Goodyear, Arizona is desperate to locate a mandolin instructor. Student has latent violin playing lurking just under the skin due to forced lessons as a child but is willing to start fresh.
Any suggestions on how to reach a pro in the area?

So---there appears to be NOT A SINGLE PERSON in Arizona who might be familiar with the rudimentary skills of mandolin playing to the extent that he or she would willingly step forward and mentor a poor lost soul in the wilderness.
Did I mention that said person will be compensated for in a manner commensurate with their contribution and ability to pass on the gift of music to one who is, indeed, a motivated learner. Or, perhaps, am I to conclude that all of Arizona is inhabited with a soulless population of barren folks?

You might try getting in touch with the Arizona Bluegrass association. They have jams in Goodyear and should be able to tell you of any instructors.
Here's their web site:
Arizona Bluegrass Association (http://www.azbluegrass.org/)

There is a BG Festival in Pinetop this weekend. Good chance to get out of the heat, meet some players, and maybe find a teacher. I will be there all weekend soaking up the cool air and performing with Flint Hill Special
Good luck to ya!
