Wanted to share this with the CBOM crew -- very unusual mandola, labeled "Bruno," carved body, that John B is attributing to the Larsons.

Vaguely tempted, but the price is a little steep for me. #Still, fun to look at, right -- don't cost nothin' to look...

Wow...what style is that? Gumby-point?

Steep price indeed: I'm sure it sounds great, but the style looks a little odd to me http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

The body style is the same as the Regal reverse scroll model and according to Mr. Gruhn the Larson's built this body style on some very ornate mandolins. I'm guessing that they built this as well as none of the Regals I've ever seen were this nice. There is a picture of the mandolin cousin of this instrument on page 100 of George Gruhn's Acoustic Guitar and Other Fretted Instruments (http://www.amazon.com/Acoustic-Guitars-Other-Fretted-Instruments/dp/0879304936).

Echoing Mike. Regals and L&Hs in this style are not uncommon and rather junky. The Larson attribution at Bernunzio's seems fair.

Then again, there is also the B&D versions of these, the Ramona...

I believe the Bernunzio instrument was previously owned by Robert Hartmann who also believed that it was work of the Larsons.

Here is the picture for the archives...
