Kamusta!
Of course I had to chime in on this one. That's pretty cool. We're going to the PI next yr. I should take along my mando! Thanks for posting Bill.

OK, so that sounded exactly like every party at my Auntie's house (including the singing along in the background). It used to kind of annoy me growing up, but that was before I played any kind of instrument (hey, I was into Van Halen back then too). Now, of course, I'd love to learn more about all those tunes/players... And everyone who knew anything is either dead, moved away, or can't remember anything. Such is life, eh?
For those who know more than I do (pretty much everyone), is that considered Rondalla music? And how do you pronounce "Rondalla" anyway?
Now what I DO know is I grew up in one of the first Filipino neighborhoods in the US (in Los Angeles). I know Filipino stringbands were quite popular during Hawaiian music's first and second waves of popularity in this country (with many Filipinos passing as Hawaiians). And I know there are several photos of these stringbands in various historical databases like the U of Iowa:

Of course there is also the Rondalla band that backed up Dave Apollon, of which I know very little about... Anyone?
