My husband the banjo player wants me to learn this song so we can play it together. As we haven't done anything like this yet, I want to give it a try.

Hey, Pinky,

I worked that great tune out from Russ Barenburg's recording. I have the notation in a program called Melody Assistant. Tab is one mouseclick away. You can get the software for free from Myriad Software online. I'd send it to you if you had a way to read it. Just let me know. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I just tried to export my file in ABC format. It looks weird, but here it is. Give this a try....

Thanks! I understand some of this, can you point me in the right direction with how to read the "Bc dB FE DF..."? #If you can give me the first few bars I can probably take it from there. #Otherwise, I'll look into getting the software.

Copy my text above and paste it into the box provided at this website. (http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html) You will get standard notation (it worked for me), but there are ways to convert that to TAB, Melody Assistant being one. I'm trying....

Depends where you heard it. The version I tabbed out above is played by Russ Barenberg (I misspelled his name above http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif ).

Mike-

I was referring to the Russ tune. From what limited material I've seen, I thought this tune was written by Russ?

Russ played the mando on that cut?

Cool. I started learning it last nite, and kept thinking....."man, this doesn't sound even close to the original version, this guy's transcription is bunk"

Then I realized the key signature had 2 flats, not 2 sharps.

Doh!
