Hi all. I have a fair grip on this tune in C, very simply played, however, I would love to learn the Ray Charles version and can't seem to get it. Seems to have lots of chords and probably beyond my reach. Any help? Thanks.

There are a lot of chords and they change from verse to verse but here are the basics, to my ear:
Intro:
G Bmsus4/F# Em Cm/Eb C#dim G Am9 D13

G B7 Em Em/D C C#dim
G E7#5 A7 D7 Dm6/F E7 A7 D7b9
G B7 Em Em/D C C#dim
G E7#5 A7 D7 G C7b5 G B7

Em Am7/E Em6 Am7/E Em Am7/E Em7 A7
Em Am7/E Em7 Em7/D F#7 Bm E7b5/Bb Am7 D7

G B7 Em Em/D C C#dim
G E7#5 A7 D7 G C7b5 G B7

Em Am7/E Em6 Am7/E Em Am7/E Em7 A7
Em Am7/E Em7 Em7/D F#7 Bm E7b5/Bb Am7 D7

G B7 Em Em/D C C#dim
G E7#5 A7 D7 Dm6/F E7 A7 D7 G C7 G G#7 G7 G7#9

The intro features a walk down in the bass: G F# E Eb for the first 4 chords.

You can simplify it by using regular 7ths and the like instead of the jazzier inversions I heard on the recording. A lot of the chords I heard are formed by the strings on top and the bass on the bottom. I don't know what Ray was playing on the piano and I could not really hear a guitar to get the chords that way. That Dm6/F in the turnaround definitely has an F in the bass, but you could probably get away with playing an F there.

Nice version, JB, complete with a bluesy tag. Kudzu, here's an earlier discussion of the tune:

Hope this is helpful.
