Mandolin Capos

Does anybody have any ideas on how to make your own(cheap) reliable mandolin capos. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Cheap indeed would be a 3/4" dowel rod slice with elastic cord from the fabric tied well and superglued (knot too) onto one end, wrapped around the neck real tight, and tied around the other. It'll get you by! (but I never tried, just a good hunch)

I've used a pencil and a rubber band.

The Red Green quote tempts me to offer a duct tape solution, but I will demure.
