Can someone decipher this serial number: 8331202 ?
I am guessing that it was born on March 3, 2008? What are the other numbers ?

Your answer can be found on Weber's (now kinda hidden) FAQ page (http://www.soundtoearth.com/FAQ.htm).
"Q: Can you explain how to read a serial number in a Weber instrument?
A: The first number is the year, the last two digits are the month, and the numbers in between represent the chronological number of that particular instrument. We separate our instruments into F, A, and flat categories, and within the flat category we further separate mandolins, mandolas, octave mandolins and mandocellos. So, for example, an Absaroka with a serial number of 289706 would mean it was the 897th A model, built in June of 2002."

Their numbering scheme has a Y2.01K bug. #Things will get confusing when the calendar flips 1/1/2010.
What about the 2982nd Absaroka built in June of 2012? #
12298206, right? #But that could be read as the 22982nd Absaroka built June of 2001 as well.
Oh well, I love my Fern, even with it's potentially confusing serial number. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
