I just picked up this beautiful Eastman 505 from a cafe member. I looked around for a long time for the right deal and believe this was a really good deal (4 bills).
This mandolin was built in 2006, has the antique brown finish, minimal flame on the back and sides and is already set up pretty well.
The workmanship on this instrument is really impressive. The sound is great too. Really nice woody mids, the high jangle and the low end is there when you need it.
I highly recommend an Eastman A if you don't want to spend tons of money, but want a quality mandolin that will serve your needs well. I won't say it's a nice mandolin "for the money", but rather it's a nice mandolin no matter what. Good is good, no matter the price paid.
Just wanted to share some joy with the good folks at the mando cafe.
