Hey all...

Check out Gibson Island (http://blip.tv/file/1080612?filename=Earthprimbee-GibsonIslandSecondLifeHomeOfGibsonGuitarCorp986.m4 v)...

Lots of mandolin content, including a 100 foot tall F5, and a clip of Sammy wailin' away...

Pretty amazing.... # # #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You figure out how to get one, share, huh? It's the only way I'm ever likely going to get close to having one IRL.

My avatar enjoys his free F5-G in front of the giant F5.

ahhh - ya' beat me to it. If I can't afford an F5 in real life, at least I can have one in Second Life.

Chuck Norris doesn't need a second life. He had one, but he killed it with a deadly glance. And a roundhouse kick.

All reality is virtual if you're Chuck Norris.

Artificial Intelligence is artificial out of fear of Chuck Norris. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Oh my goodness. #How long before this site is hosting jams where all the participants play like Bill on acid. #

Words such as "hell" and "handcart" come to mind. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I already play real Gibson mandolins, though not a hundred feet tall. Given that I first read about SecondLife this morning in Newsweek, I'm feeling befuddled. Looks about as interesting to me as Guitar Hero, which is to say, not at all. Weird. But beats the Sims from ten years ago.

Is "Gibson Island" supposed to be a sort of living advertisement in this fictional world?

So you posted to say you're not interested? Uh, thanks for the update!

No doubt. #But the joy of it is that it's all virtual, so you could play it just like a banjo but it could sound like a choir of angels. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'll take a virtual Engelmann Spruce top over a virtual "skin" any day!

On the bright side, you could virtually see to the demise of such banjos, which could be fun while not actually hurting anyone's real-life beloved instruments. Virtual banjo bonfire perhaps?

I've never tried second life, and don't think I will, but it's interesting that so many people are into it. That first life page is really funny though. I especially like the line "Go outside. Membership is free."

In the tour of Gibson Island of the humbucker mountains there is a video of Sam Bush playing his fender in the theater.
