great little solo by Roland on a teens F-4, sounded like a BG mando to me, with Clarence on guitar, they were backing up Andy for a recording of mountain music, Clarence looked a little nervous but Roland seemed like he could barely keep from cracking up, they also had a resonator guitar, banjo, and standup bass, anyone know who the rest of the band was?
Billy Ray Latham, banjo, Mack McNees, dobro, if there was a fiddle, Scotty Stoneman, Roger Bush, bass. That's Bush, spelled T-R-E-E, pronounced SHRUB, he ain't nuthin' but a SPROUT, though http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

...that's from an early KC record, I think Billy Ray introducing the band...
No, don't know too much about the AG shows, but I do know who was in the band.

I have seen that episode a couple of times and have always been too late at the draw to tape it. I believe everyone who was mentioned was on the show except Scotty Stoneman. I believe they were called The Country Boys.
Roland did make that F-4 sound good. It would have been cool if Clarence would have flat-picked something but it was a short segment.
That episode was available on a video that featured musical episodes from the Andy Griffith show. There were several shows on the video, and also included some of the episodes featuring the Dillards. I don't know if it is still available, but there is a web site for the Andy Griffith show which should have information about availability.
