I heard this tune in church that the choir sang. Very simple, but I liked it. I had the music at one time, but I lost it, and after searching the internet, I'm still at a loss. It is a French carol or French aire. I thought the opening line was "While the bright sun (son) shineth", and the opening notes are : E3, B3, C#4, A3, B3, G3. All quarter notes except for the last two which are half notes. I still play the tune, but I would like more info and lyrics.

Thanks,

Trent

OK,

I can finally answer my own question. I was listening to XM radio, and heard the tune. It was titled "Sing We Now of Christmas" from the French carol, "Noel Novelet". The same tune is used for the Easter hymn, "Now the Green Blade Riseth". It sounds great on Mandolin.
