If that article was a break, I'd say it was right in the pocket. Seems like a hard thing to write about El Dawg. He, like all of us, has opinions, and it's hard to write a short interview, or article about him, and be able to cover it properly. I remember a couple of years ago there was an interview and there was a long thread about what he said. Mainly because I don't think you can sound bite him. And most articles because of space constraints have to give you snipits of what he said. One thing he said was to the effect most of the youngin's haven't really suffered for their music. And that they had been raised musically on Sesame Street. If you could have gotten into a discussion with Grisman I'm sure you could have better understood where he was coming from. But you couldn't. Not enough info.
I enjoyed your article a lot Bill for painting the snapshot of meeting with him and more or less showing his human side while giving some history. Lots of respect, and the right amount of perspective. And I certainly agree with his last statement about more about music, and less about trivia on the Cafe.

Thanks Bill.

It was a great article. A lot of the atmosphere of being at the festival came over as well.

Bill has some nice turns of phrase:

'music that salutes being young, rebellious but thoughtful, freedom seeking and the ability to never miss the party'.

I like that!

A fantastic column, as we have come to expect. Bill keep it up.

I love Grisman's comment: "I realized then that it didn't matter as long as it was good music," Grisman said.
