Hello all , I bought a IV mando kit last year, redesigned the peg head, wish I could post a photo but cant, not computer savvy, but I had a few slight accidents building it so I improvised, it came out OK, but now I need to put a color on it, but cant make up my mind, How many of the builders out there might have done the same,, and what color design if any other than traditional, I would like to see to get some idea,s, I am not into copying, just need some more incentive..........Dennis in Az
I don't have any help for you. But I would also love to see some nontraditional finishes.
I am in the process of building a IV kit now and will hopefuly be ready to put a finish on it within a week or two.

Im just about to finish my first IV kit as well. Also had some trouble. Mainly on the headstock. I didnt really like my initial design, so I came up ith a new one. I really like it, but its too short for the upgraded tuners I got for it, so I had to mount them in reverse. Not a big deal, just awkward at first. As for the finish Im gonna use aniline dyes for the staining, not too sure about the finish coats. I think im just gonna go with a soild brown top and try a sunburst on the back sides and neck. I also will be dyeing the fretboard much darker. I would love to try a sunburst on the top, but I have heard horror stories about spruce streaking. Good Luck!
