I did the pre-sale deal through their website and got mine last week and have nearly worn it out already. IMO it's a much better CD than their first. If you've seen them live in the last few months a lot of the new songs will be familiar.

I got mine today (signed) and haven't gotten a chance to listen but I know it's going to be killer. I went on a Bluegrass cruise to Alaska last year and sat in on Jesse Cobb's mando work shop and he is Great! Very friendly and personnable!Every thing they do is great! GET YOURS TODAY!See 'em live if you can!

We've had this one at the radio station for a couple of weeks now and I've listened to it many tmes. I really liked "Bound For Tennessee" and "Three Days in July", those guys really have a way with telling a story. I was a little surprised that Andy Falco didn't have any lead vocals. With him in the band that group is now loaded with vocal talent to go along with instrumental prowess.

Can't wait to see them at the Wenacthee River BG fester at end of June!

I got mine last week too and am enjoying it as well. Ditto on Jesse and the guys too, they couldn't be nicer. I'm not sure I'd say its better than fork though, that's a tremendous album.

Yes, while Fork In The Road hit me immediately, it took repeated listens to the the new recording for me to "get it". Not that it's complicated or anything, I guess it's just that the first recording was so great.

I'm kinda upset.....I don't get to go to that. I have a gig of my own. Ahh well....such is a musical life.

I have plans to get the Infamous album here soon. I love the energy and musicality these guys play with. These guys have got some tasty playing...pretty dang awesome.

Now that Infamous Stringdusters CD is out, don't forget to go back and check out my review here (http://tedlehmann.blogspot.com/2008/05/infamous-stringdusters-cd-review.html). I think it builds on the promise of Fork in the Road. For sure, there's no sophomore slump. - Ted

I've listened to this one a few times now. I'll agree with the others who said it isn't as grabbing as Fork but a very good album overall. I like the mix of this one a lot better than Fork tho- it sounds more natural and a little less like "nashville grass" if you know what I mean.

What is Nashville Grass? I thought that was one of Lester Flatt's old bands.

yeah i suppose you're right... when i said "nashville grass", i was thinking of new country-fied bluegrass, in that the mix is a little too clean, quite overcompressed, etc. even when the pickin is clean and fast, i still prefer the mix to sound like it's got some life left in it. considering that aspect, i think the new record comes much closer to my ideal than fork.

just MO.

The Stringdusters seem to have escaped the sophomore slump with this second disk. They also form a really interesting and high quality bridge between traditional bluegrass and more progressive elements of the genre. All the members of this group are strongly grounded in tradition, while forging new kinds of music with a most contemporary sound to it. I'd say there isn't much of the Nashville feel or sound in what they do. - Ted

Agree 100%, I think they are one of if not the top young groups out there right now. You can tell they are steeped in the real deal tradition but are also taking some chances and making the music their own.

My only point was that I find the production of their second album to be truer to their live (and I think inherent) sound in that it seems a bit more natural in comparison to their debut.

Well I took the leap and bought the new Infamous album. Gotta hand it to them, They sound like they've been playing together, they really know how to gel. Its a great album and I recommend it. A great product from a great bunch of musicians.

Hey Chris - here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huD1JpM4hF4) a cool video where the 'Dusters talk about how they have "gelled" as band. I really think you need to see them live and watch how they interact with each other to really get a sense of how they work. They're gonna be at the Tractor next week.

BTW - you need to update your avatar to include the Collings!

Yeah Pete, thats a great video. Thanks for posting the link. I saw them at Wintergrass....what a treat, great show. Obviously I cant see them at the Tractor for age reasons...but if you go, enjoy the show!

Yes I do...I'll get there!

Heya Chris,

You missed a great gig. #The 'Dusters really outdid themselves at The Tractor last night. #They finished up old-school style by going out into the audience and forming a circle and jamming away for a good half hour.

Understand the age limit thing, but somebody shot some video - you can check it out here. (http://app.synclive.com/)

(It's under recent shows)

Did you chck out that video? There's some cool stuff with Danny Barnes doing the tape-loop thang with the banjer. He calls it Barnyard Electronics.
