Folks, I'm glad to post a little amusement for all you mandolin pickers out there. A friend of mine sent me these clips of us from recent festivals, and I've just posted them on YouTube.

On the first three clips I'm playing Randy Wood #3 (the one Bill Monroe owned). On the workshop clips, Chris is playing Randy Wood #1281, and John is playing the very last mandolin Gilchrist made when he was working at Gruhn's!

Here's our All-Star Band playing my tune "Helton Creek":

"Wheel Hoss" and "Soldier's Joy", from the Gamblefest mandolin workshop:

Now for a couple of songs: "Big Jim Folsom" and "Keep Florida Green", from this year's Will McLean Festival (April, 2008):

Thanks, Red! Those are fun! I like how you mention that Wheel Hoss should "chug." I notice that too many jam sessions these fiddle tunes are played so fast that they lose their individual character. Hence the "all those fiddle tunes sound the same" complaint. Thanks for making them sound more like they are "supposed" too!
