I am currently in Israel with family, and I've been informed that Sunday will be "shopping day" in Tel Aviv. I'd like to find some music stores, preferably with mandolins or local variants, while my wife and daughters look for crafts, jewelry, etc. Any suggestions?

Across the street from Dizengoff Center is a "Kli Zemer" store with a really large selection of guitars. Don't know what they have in the way of mandolins. What I have seen here is cheap, made in china A styles and an "electric mandolin" (don't know what it was). Also Turkish sashz(?) and Ouds. Good luck!
Thanks, Yoshka, I'll be sure to check it out.

Hi Michael:
I have never been over there and I think the country is not all that big -- like New Jersey I have heard. Anyway, check out (if you can) the Israeli Mandolin Quartet (http://www.mandolin.co.il/) with Shmuel Elbaz. They are in Beer Sheba.
