Is this something I can attempt myself with a dremel? I found a site on the net where this is demonstrated and it looks fairly easy.

It's only an Epiphone MM50 and I figure if I mess up I can always saw the fingerboard extension off.

I searched here but didn't find much - maybe I'm not searching correctly.

TIA!

I believe Frank Ford at frets.com covers this. I just got me a elcheapo F-style and was thinking about doing the same thing, but havent gotten around to it. However ever if I leave it as it is I can use it as a gauge on improvement so that I would know if have ever stopped clicking when I'm picking. I dig in way to much when picking... my chop is clean though.

I did my own on one of my mandos some time ago.Not much to it.The frets lifted right out.Used a flat file and a round to give a radius to the edge of the scoop. The guy who had done one for me before said he took the wood down till there was no more fret slots showing.I did this and it left my thickness on the extension a bit thin.Hindsight says I could have left some slots showing and maybe filled in with something decorative,or not.
