I have heard tounge is good for necks. All the places I have looked recommend Tounge oil for a "raw" neck feel that is if you don't want to put a varnish/laquer on it. I haven't had any experience that is just what I have heard

Ah tung and linseed.
REAL tung oil is not like linseed oil at all, and not like the #### they call tung oil in the "home improvement" stores. REAL tung oil is milky brownish amber (cant see thru it at all) and has a very unique nutlike (and pleasant) smell. The stuff you get in most places is a polyurethane with some hint of tung oil in it. That stuff is essentially polyurethane.... however REAL tung oil dries very slowly, and is wonderful to touch when dry, completely dry feeling, not tacky or sticky, and it wont gum, and being nearly impervious to most things it might come in contact with (sweat, water, alcohol, etc), it makes a great neck finish. You've got to get the real stuff at a specialty supplier - and be prepared: its not cheep.
Linseed oil on the other hand never really dries and has that tendancy to eventually get sticky with high humidity and use (aka rubbing). I'm not fond of linseed oil on anything but military gunstocks.
You can get "lin-speed" which is pretty nice if you want a polyu-enhanced linseed. But you might find that a rag applied and well rubbed in coat or two of satin poly feels just about as good as anything and is very stable.
