I was wondering, for truss rods, what is the minimum amount of wood that you can have on the back of the neck before you would run into structural issues? I would like to install a two way adjustable but the pocket needs to be routed much deeper than if I were to use a traditional rod. I am worried that there won't be enough wood left, unless I kept my neck much thicker than planned.

so long as the ends of the rod are in the heel and headstock volute there shouldn't be much trouble and you could get away with a LOT less than you think is sensible.

General rule is to have no less than 1/8" of wood under the truss rod. #The rod works best near the back of the neck, but shouldn't crack the wood, which it can do it the wood is left too thin. #Read and follow the instructions for the rod. #
