The mandos on ebay if you want will come with a certificate from Doyle ,At least thats what they say ,and probally they would take a picture of him with it if you asked .I thought about getting one but changed my mind .

These mandos are the real deal. # My wife and I are good friends with Doyle and his wife, and I talked with Mrs. Lawson last week. She told me about these mandolins before they were posted on Ebay. Doyle has owned them for several years and they are in great shape. The 3-point has some noticeable wear, but heck, it's 100 years old!

Of course, while Doyle owned them, that doesn't mean he played them very much, but probably if he didn't like them he wouldn't have bought them, so I guess it's a little like asking him to go choose a mandolin for you.
As for whether they are worth more BECAUSE he owned them, whether it increases the sale value, maybe. I used to own his Tucker #2, and I think the connection with him made it easier to sell, and maybe it increased the value a bit. But probably all of the increase in value will be happening with this sale if you use BuyItNow, and then your problem will be getting your money out of it if you ever want to sell it. But I'm sure they are all fine mandolins.

No doubt they are owned by Lawson but I agree you might be hard pressed finding a stage photo of him picking one. Doyle did have an F12 way back but I don't think it was this one. While Mitch Simpson is a great guy he has someone else writing these descriptions and they are not always accurate. Like on the F12 the bridge has been replaced to a Loar style and the tuner button ends are replacements. There is no mention of this which I think should be to keep it honest for those that don't know. Mitch does know and should disclose these details. I've tried to tell them these oversights but the descriptions don't get changed. Maybe if Mitch reads this he will check into it. This is not the only instrument I've found wrong with FlipItFast on their descriptions. I've found many times the wrong year stated. While many here do know such things many don't know. Those BuyItNow prices do seem to have some "DoyleMojoFactor" added in the price but many times Flip It will take less offers after it has run for awhile. Great people to deal with.

DL has probably had A LOT of mandolins over his career - nearly every Paganoni sold was his at one time, I even have a mandolin (a Kentucky KM-1500 - a REAL good one) that was attached to him at some time in the 80s...i agree, thats nice to tack on and know, but why pay a premium for it - its not like Bills Loar, Tonys bone or Earls Granada...ie an instrument solely associated with the artist throughout his career.
i've got an old martin d-28 that Johnny Cash once played on stage - i dont claim it as being anymore valuable because of that one night.

Flip-It-Fast's shipping is WAY too much! These instruments can be shipped with the same expediency and insurance for less than half of what UPS charges, using the Post Office. I shipped a mandolin from NC to Anchorage, AK about 3 years ago. I shipped it Next Day Air on the 23rd of Dec. with insurance. It arrived, undamaged, in Anchorage at 12pm on the 24th. I used a very large box as well. The total price was $55.oo at my local Post Office.

They are about double on most anything they ship. I suspect they are adding it to their actual shipping cost to have a full time department doing shipping and you are paying for it. I asked about a set of guitar tuners with a shipping cost of $28. USPS Priority would be less than $6 and UPS regular ground probably less than that with a coporatate account like they have. $28 a big excessive IMO
As far as tacking a premium onto celebrity status I've got an old '23 F5 in which I have a recording and photo of Monroe playing it on stage. The '23F5 would be regular market price but the recording and photo of Monroe playing it on stage... PRICELESS!
