.....you google your home-towns name with "bluegrass" to find festivals, groups, other pickers......and all that comes back is golf courses! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Try finding ONE good luthier in a major city! Sure, on the outskirts and in Tucson...LOL!

If I googled Monroe (Washington) and bluegrass I am sure I would get some stuff back. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Naaah, there's no mandolin players here in Tucson. No mandolins either... they confiscated mine at the state border. Gave me back a cheap nylon stringed guitar and a mariachi outfit.

Come on now fellas...cut a newbie a break http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Seriously, I've only dealt with Precision Guitars in Phoenix the entire time I've lived here (16 years) and I know Beck’s pretty much rules the Mesa area but what about Mandolins? Are these the fellas I want to have work on my Mando? I was under the impression to have a specialist do it and if you guys could point me in the right direction I would be might obliged. I've searched the net and didnt find anything...close that is. Even as far as dealers it seems the closest is Cave Creek, as Guitar Center nor Bizarre Guitar have a whole lot to offer...

Fortunately for me, the manufacturer of my Mando is a mere 2 hour drive away, and they invited me over any time to have it set-up......now if I could just find some pickers in town.

Alright alright if you are looking for someone to setup your mandolin in the phoenix area there are some mexicians at the corner of Bethany home and camelback that will check it out by I-17 http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif No but really there is a luthier school in downtown phoenix and from what i hear they do a great job setting up your mando! I think it costs 30 bucks.. But make sure you have a teacher do it and not a snot nose student.. the place i believe is at http://www.roberto-venn.com/ check out! Also if any mando players in the phoenix area feel like picking i'll play when ever:)
cheers! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Jack, since your profile says your location is "standing on the moon", I imagine it's hard to find pickers around. And I didn't know about those lunar mandolin builders -- just a two hour drive on your lunar rover? ; that's not bad. I'd order from them, but you know, shipping is pretty steep.:;):

How about... If you've just restrung your new mandolin because the bloody e-string broke. And it breaks as you are stinging it because you get a kink in it... and you're out of E-strings... and it's raining... and you don't have a car... so you " cheat" and use an A string, which is rough on your tiny, girly fingers..and....and.. WHHAAAHH!!!

Hey there muzicfreak, I take offense to that "no pickers in Phoenix" comment. That's the last time you get a chili beer from me! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
