Anybody know who the winner and finalists were for this year's Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest?

Garsh... I'm afraid to open my trap, here... Cuzz I very well could be wrong... (It certainly wouldn't be the first time...) I do hope that my memory is correct, here...
There is an Alaskan band called, "Barefoot Bluegrass." They are an awesome group of young musicians, and the mandolin player is...WOW!
Dang... I hope I'm not wrong... and, quite frankly... I don't know what "Telluride" is... But, I think this group of very talented young folks won it...

The winner was the Burnett Family Band. Hard to compete with a bunch of blonde youngins who are too cute and can pick and sing too. Don't remember the names of the other finalists.

I heard Bearfoot Bluegrass last year and they are pretty good, and young also. They will be at Rockygrass again this year.

oops. I looked it up on the internet... HEY! so I'm behind the times! Bearfoot Bluegrass won in 2001... Oh well, give me a little credit for at least making the connection between "Telluride" and Bearfoot Bluegrass... (Gulp)... (Musta seen it on a poster somewhere or somethin'...)

I listened to the Burnett Family Band on their website and a couple of other sites. Either their sound clips don't do them justice or the competition at Telluride was weak this year. The harmony vocals were really good, but the lady singing lead was unpleasant to my ears. She "warbles" too much and throws in way to many "hoots" and yells ~ala Shania Twain~ for my liking. The players could definately pick very well, especially for their ages, but not well enough (from the few sound bits that I got to listen to) to win at Telluride or any major competition. I know of 6 or 7 bands here in Western PA that are a lot better, but that's just my opinion. I've probably said enough.

LOL, I asked my mom about them, since she lives down in Flagstaff where the Burnett's are from. She said she caught them once at the bookstore playing, and that they were really good pickers. She didn't say anything about their vocals though http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I was there, and i can say that they deserved to win from the bands that played on Saturday morning. I've seen them before and can agree with the comment of the whoops and warbles, but whichever one was singing on Saturday absolutely nailed it. She had an amazing voice. The picking was great, too. I was impressed, anyway. I'm going up to Flag this weekend, maybe I'll be able to catch them after their new found fame!
