I saw Del and the boys last Friday here in Flag.
Great show. No surprises, just great songs. The whole show was done using 2 microphones for both vocals and instruments.

Hey Bill, I was at the show and had a little different take. #

I was pleasantly surprised Del and the boys played "a good man like me", and "I've endured". #I yelled both of those out at different times during the night. #Great songs!

And I was pretty disappointed with the sound. #The large mic was just too hot, and the room main speakers too loud for most of the night, I thought.

The problem (I think) is that the soundman sits only about 5 feet away from where the loudest drunks tend to congregate (in the middle of the bar along the back wall of the hall). #So, after about 4 songs, the noise level got so loud that the soundman had to jack everything up in order to hear it.

I noticed a huge difference in sound quality between row 2, and 8. #In row 2 you were safely between the band and the house main speakers, and the sound was great. #In row 8 the main speakers were too loud and the signal really thin, I thought.

But don't get me wrong, the only show I have had more fun at in Flagstaff was Del's show here last summer!

mingus... ; thanks for "qualifing" that.. ("except Del's show last summer") - As I began to read your post I thought "..ohh!!.., another picky, picky person.." - Long live "Del and the Boys"... - carrying on the "tradition". Thanks for the "review' & post. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

You bet, they are such great players, and really nice guys! #

I am picky, and I feel really lucky to have seen them twice in the last year. #I'll never pass on an opportunity to see Del and the boys!

My favorite DMB show was at the Point in Bryn Mawr, PA a couple years back. It is a small venue and it felt like having them in your living room. I said hi to Ronnie and offered him a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and he said sure but after the show. We saved him one and he chatted with us for a few minutes while quaffing a cold one. Real nice guy. P.S. The sound was great.

Great show Friday night in Cleveland, Ga at the 2 year old North Georgia Bluegrass Festival. Del and the Boys were on for about 2 1/2 hours including about an hour jam with Dawg and Alan Bibey. Mitch Simpson, who put on the festival is obviously a mando aficionado, jammed with them and held his own. Great night especially after an earlier set by Steffey and Mountain Heart.
