What do most people tune to... 440? I usually tune to D# and my tuning seems to match a few albums and CD's I have.

A-440 is the standard as far as I know.

Sometimes blues players will tune down their guitars a half-step and use extra heavy strings because Stevie Ray Vaughn used to do it; maybe others. Depending in which key they really end up playing in, you might be noticing this.

Many groups like Flatt and Scruggs would tune up 1/2 step. It gives a brighter, happier tone. Yes you want to tune in 440 -always. Tuning up 1/2 step you are still tuning 440. I'm no expert but, I believe other cultures have their own
notes like Indian or asian music.

I have seen some older pickers tune to A442.

I think I started tuning to D# from playing along to Skynyrd albums. I think that Old And In The Way LP IS 442!
