Classy!
I am quite pleased with the way this mandolin sounds and looks. Andy sent me a sound clip and it was great. Obviously, it will be somewhat different when I hear it live, but I am confident it will be great. The top is Engleman Spruce. Neither the fretboard or the headstock is bound. I had a couple of upgrades with the block inlays and ebony tuner buttons. I am very please with the understated beauty of this mandolin. I had an idea of what I was looking for and Andy went above and beyond. I am quite pleased with the burst as well. I talked to Andy about what I was looking for and this is quite close and possibly better than I what I invisioned. I am a little afraid to play this mandolin, but am soooo looking forward to overcoming my fears. My wife will be out of town all week. I think that is probably best as I have a feeling it is going to be hard to pull myself away from the mandolin.

If you're a collector and you just want to look at instruments as works of art - keep them in their cases and pull 'em out once in a while and drool over them. But, on the other hand, if you're a MUSICIAN - well, then you pull it out of its case, grab a beer or some (?) and play the hell out of it. Make it sing... make it bark... put a scratch or two on it asap so you won't be afraid to really enjoy PLAYING MUSIC on it!

That would be Poe #16, on an earlier thread here. (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=15&t=49136)

Wow what an absolute beauty!!!
I luv the understated appointments, it makes it look very elegent almost like a nicer f-9. Can't go wrong the block inlay either, that combined with the dark sunburst almost gives it a Hoss type look.

This thread makes me anxious. How long did it take to get #19?
The more I look at this mandolin, the more I am in love.

This mandolin is special. I have been playing for about a half hour and it sounds great! I am stunned by the amount of sustain this F style mandolin has. It is going to be a long night folks.

Hey,
I *was* jealous until I got Poe #20 in the mail today!
Photos, lots of praise and other info to come. Got to go make dinner and play the mandolin for a while.

Congrats to you Cbarry. It looks great too. I am beyond pleased with my mandolin. I am still astounded by the sustain on this instrument. I just rings and rings. I have had a hard time pulling myself away from it. I thought it would be tough to play a new instrument in terms of feel and reaching the frets. That simply isn't the case at all. The mandolin is seriously comfortable to play. My other mandolin is going to get a long rest.
The case is an Ameritage case. It looks good and has a built in humidor which also seems to be doing the job. The inside of the case is sitting at 68 degrees and 48% humidity.
I never had a doubt about Andy building this mandolin, but it has far exceeded my expectations. I know it is going to continue to open up which is a scary thought.
