Nah, the builder put the headstock on wrong, it was supposed to be attached to the neck on the other end....
With that said, if it's a Kay it's not a made in the USA Kay, it's an import.

That's as funny as when you see the f-shape headstock modified to take a-tuners. (asian - I think)

Friend of mine has the same thing going on with her snakehead. I don't know who repaired it, but apparently he couldn't find any A-style tuners with the right spacing.

I would think that the tuners could be modified so that they would look right (on the Snakehead).
