There was an "interview" of Monroe and Flatt recorded a number of years ago. It was hilarious. Can anybody direct me to a site with it? I understand it was done with the voices of Glen Duncan and Flatt's former bus driver.
Any more info on this? I have heard it once and ROFLMAO.

OK, everyone, make sure you swallow your beer and/or milk so you don't damage your screen and keyboard...
Here (http://www.radiofreeolga.com/RadioFreeOlga/Interview.html), by request, is the infamous interview with Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt--together in the same room!.
This valuable audio document sheds light on that delicate relationship between these two great men like no other recording I have ever heard...
Enjoy!

What cracks me up is hearing "Bill" start to hiss every time he gets ticked off....
Apparently that was a well-known trait of his, and these guys just nail it...

It's "chimley". #

I think there's software for ripping stuff from postings like the one I stuck up...
Or, you can just take a mini plug>mini plug cable and do it that way, recording to Toast or the like...
I'm sure someone will know the right way to do it... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

If that's not Ronnie McCoury then he must have a twin I don't know about because that voice is a dead ringer for his.
Thanks for posting the link Spruce I love it!

It's a snap to rip it with Audacity. Just click on the input down arrow and change to "What you Hear". Click the
Record button and Stop button when you're done.

The first time I heard it, I thot it was for real, until they started talking dates and ages, and I figured it out that Lester had been dead for over 10 years and Flatt and Scruggs had separated a LONG time before the interview date.
One of the voices did sound like Mc Coury, and the "DJ" must have been the Opry guitar player.
My wife listened to it last night (not knowing the background of it) and she said "That Monroe guy is mean. I wish he wouldnt talk like that......" ROFLMAO

DJ 1 ("country"): #Jimmy Capps (a long-time Nashville guitar session man)
DJ 2 ("pop"): Ronnie McCoury
WSM: Glen Duncan
Lester: I have no idea, a 'bus driver' was suggested above, but no name
I am dead certain about McCoury and Duncan. Glen Duncan does a nice Mon imitation on one of the Longview albums (outro to "Train that Carried my Girl from Town", AFAIR). I've never heard Jimmy Capps' voice, so can't say if it's him or not.
And "Lester's bus driver".... who is that?
The `interview' took place in 1992 according to the age calculation (1911 + 81, but `Lester' say he's 77, born in 1914); Lester died in 1979. #Ronnie was 25 or so (born 1967).

I am told that Lester was done by "Stubby" who was his bus driver for years

Lester was done by Charlie Vaughn. There is another similar recording with Lester Flatt being done by Keith Whitley and maybe Skaggs doing Monroe when they were younger in the Stanley band. I'd like to hear that one again. Lester talks to a DJ and there is more foul talk on it.

That's the one I was thinking about. #I started to say earlier that it was Whitley doing Lester but then remembered that Keith died in the early 80's.

Lester was done by Charlie Vaughn.
Pardon my ignorance, but who is Charlie Vaughn? I think he may be (have been?) an Opry staff musician, which would fit with Jimmy Capps being DJ#1.
Does anyone know the circumstances behind this interview?
Anyway, I played it for my wife, she was ROTFLHAO and I could not convince her it wasn't really Bill and Lester, until we got to the part about the Flying V.

Gang,
I can't get enough of this interview.....even after listening to it 3 times, I'm about to bust a gut!!! I can still remember calling down to Beanblossom in the early 80's for info on his festival and having Bill himself answer the phone. You got alot of info out of old Bill when you told him how honored you were to be speaking with him.
But what we need now is a tape of Don Stiernberg doing his imitations of Jethro. They're worth the price of his seminars alone.
