Greetings from Oklahoma.
My family is just getting started in Bluegrass and we'd like to find some folks in Oklahoma to get aquainted with.
We have been involved in Southern gospel music for several years but, we recently decided to follow our hearts and make a move to Bluegrass. I'm playing the mandolin, my wife is learning the bass fiddle, our two sons are picking up the guitar and banjo while our two daughters have both chosen the fiddle. Our kids are still pretty young (9,8,7, and 4) but we would like to find some places to meet folks and maybe jam a little. We stick to the old gospel stuff if we're in church but we would love to play some of the traditonal stuff at jams or festivals. We prefer the older stuff #( Mr. Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Flatt & Scruggs etc )and that's what we are going to concentrate on.
I guess what I'm wanting to know is........would a family group with kids be welcome to sit in at jams and things of that nature? We're new to this so please be patient.
