Here is the mandozine link (http://www.mandozine.com/music/search_results.php?searchfor=minor+swing&tuneselectby=C&mandolevel=&category=&songkey=&artist=&transcriber=&sortby=T&sortorder=A&submit=) you will need to download the free version of TablEdit (http://www.tabledit.com/?AfID=19329) to use it.

thanks for help, guys. I have that version in my tabledit file. 99% of it is just jamming and inprov stuff. The only recognizable melody is in the last stanza and only 4 bars. I was hoping for a standard version of the song.Any other versions out there that you know of? TIA

You might try the John Jorgenson.com (http://www.johnjorgenson.com) There may be resources there on the discussion board...

There are a number of very good Gypsy-jazz mandolin lessons (http://www.djangobooks.com/archives/2004/12/25/gypsy_jazz_mandolin_lessons_by_john_mcgann.html#00 0224) available at Djangobooks.com. They are written by John McGann, and each focuses on a specific element of Gypsy Jazz style and/or repertoire. They are not free, but the price is something like $5.00 per lesson, and they're well worth it. Minor Swing is the basis for a lesson entitled "Gypsy Jazz Chords for Mandolin." There are also several other lessons which are transcriptions of solos by both Django and Stephane Grappelli, for tunes like Sweet Georgia Brown, Limehouse Blues, Daphne, Night and Day, and some others. I've got no financial interest; I'm just a big Gypsy Jazz fan, and happy to see this kind of stuff available at a reasonable price.

I don't know for sure, but you may get more results using the name "Minor Swing." There's no "A" in the title.

Though not tab, many of the Django anthologies have Minor Swing in it's "natural" form, if there ever was such a thing. And one section of the Mandozine file is a pretty straightforward semblance of the original as well.

You're right ! But the bars 1 to 8 of the Tabledit File is THE "original melody".

Django always improvised. The melody was sometimes very simple… and he could improvise during hours…
All that is always improvisation (except the first 8 bars) .
