Just got a conformation that I'll be a volunteer at Old Settlers. Once the official schedule is posted mayhaps we can set a time and place for a mandolin cafe gettogether and jam.

This will be my first time to go. I hear it's pretty crazy and that there's not much jamming but I'll bring my mando nonetheless.

I went to Old Settler's a few years back and had a great time. There was lot's of jamming in the campground all week. Some great circles with the likes of Natalie MacMaster, Joe Craven, Papa Mali. You do need to be a camper to enter the area though. The festival was Thurs-Sun, music the first and last days were in the campground, low key. Thursday was amazing, with free beer (kegs), the Red Stick Ramblers, The Gourds, Leftover Salmon, and Split Lip Rayfield who's bass player played a bass made from a 17 gallon Ford gas can.
The main festival grounds are beautiful; rolling lawns, creek, great barbecue. And Texas hospitality!
