Well, believe it or not I finally made the switch to American made and gotta tell ya it makes a huge difference. I used to swear by my Pac-Rim mando, which is great for small gatherings, but after much frustration with it's sound getting lost in bigger jams I decided to take the plunge.
After much consideration of all the options, building my own, custom build, off-the-shelf, and some great insight into just what can make, or break, a mando tone-wise (thanks Zeke), I ended up going with the one that "spoke to me", yes it really does happen.
So I am the happy owner of a new F-9, picked up at a major discount from My Music Quest (awesome to deal with, by the way), and can hardly contain myself.
Thanks to Big Joe as well for assuring me that they pretty much all share the same fine tone, it sounds identical to the original one I played at a festival and fell for. Exactly what I was looking for tone-wise.
Well, it's been outa my hands for much too long now, I'll come up for air in a couple days.
