Not too shabby.

Niles H has a book out with multiple solos to about 6 tunes, this is one of them. Try to find that and incorporate some of his ideas into your own thing.

Could you give me the name of the book?

Hot Solos to Bluegrass Mandolin Tunes, or something like that. Search for a post of his on this message board, I think he includes a link on the bottom for his wares.

Check out the Claire Lynch Band's version of it. Really a different spin on a great old standard. Kind of a darker minor sounding thing going on. I really like it.

Check out Niles' website. (http://www.users.waitrose.com/~john.baldry/mando/hokkanen.html) It is Hot Licks For Hot Picks.

Well, that is certainly one of his books (I have had it since 1983 or so), but I'm thinking of another book where he laid out several tunes, with several choruses of each.

My mistake Alan. Hot Solos For Bluegrass Mandolin is listed right under the one I mentioned, I just cut and pasted the wrong one.

Hey Snapcut -- the end is the best part! I do that too -- play while it's fun and then screw up and say ok enough! I also mouth the lyrics just like you do . . .

Snap... are you actually mouthing the words or doing some sort of counting? Or reading tab? I noticed you doing this in another of your vids. It doesn't really look like mouthing words. I was curious.... do tell.

Good job on the tune (Wabash Cannonball). Good to see you posting again also. I just bought a guitar today. I may do some vids with it. It's fun. I've already learned half of my mando tunes on it.

Hi Lynn
Can't wait to see you new videos.
My Sister was the first to point out my mouth moving. I'm not really sure what it is. I think it's something involuntary. I don't read tabs and most of the tunes I have don't have lyrics with them and don't match what I know. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Right, Claire's version seems to be partly a takeoff on the old Carter Family recording of the song. A great singer, and good stuff.

I was just over in Vincennes yesterday and there is definitely something to be said for "Wabash Snowballs" these days.

Go for it!

On our way back to Bloomington, on US 50 we saw where some folks had built a huge, beautiful dragon out of snow. The houses were in the shadow of a big ridge to the south, so the sun didn't melt the snow in their yards. The dragon was about 40' long and maybe 8-10' high!
