Can anyone recommend a good mando luthier in the Atlanta area or northwest Georgia area who could check the setup on my mandolin?

Haven't found one yet. I have only had experience with one and I can't recommend him. When I went on vacation last year in Hilton Head I dropped off (after calling ahead)my Gibson A9 with Randy Wood and had a new bridge done. I can highly recommend his shop. Haven't heard bad or good about Maple Street guitars (buckhead) but I think I would give them a try before any other retail shop I can think of.

Let me correct my post. I have had experience with a local guy that was not so good and then a very positive experience in Randy Woods shop in Bloomingdale,Ga.

If you ever get north to TN I can take a look. I go to NW GA, too. Maybe I should have a workshop. Although I usually stay somewhere perhaps not so suitable for the shy.

I would make an appointment for Sat. with Randy Wood, drop it off and then spend the day in Savannah, GA,pick it up on the way home. Nice way to spend the day and get your mandolin set up by one of the best.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Stephen, maybe I can get up your way some day. I have a Morgam Monroe MFM-300 Rocky Top and I know it could use some tweaking.

Hi Mark. there is a very good luthier in Jefferson, GA. I'm sorry, I cannot remember his name but if you will call Mitch @ Cleveland Chevrolet (Cleveland GA) I'm pretty sure he can give you info. Calvin in Freehome (between Canton & Cumming)is also very good. Saunee music in Cumming can also do it right.

What is Calvin's last name [in Freehome]? And do you have a phone number?
Thanks.
