thought I would let everyone know about an upcoming festival near dayton ohio. the Bellbrooke Jamboree is going to be featuring some great bands with great mandolin players. Dan Tyminski w/ adam steffey, Ron Block w/ Sierra hull, dry branch fire squad, king wilkie, the grasscals, and more.
it's may 16-18 and I think they have tickets for a short time at $30 for all 3 days. www.bellbrookjamboree.com
I'm not a great mandolin player but the band I'm in will be playing friday. that was a little shameless self promotion. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Well, if your going to do a little shameless self promotion then do it right.... give the name of your band and the time y'all are playing! We want to see the right band on Friday

mt pleasant string band, we play at 5 right before dry branch. It's the biggest festival we've played by far I will be there with a highland strings F model, so if you see a heavy set guy with a blue calton case, thats me, I'd be glad to let anyone give the mando a test drive.
a freind of mine is playing saturday, a great mandolin player that plays guitar in his band, named jake brown he used to play for tony holt so some folks have probably heard him.
hope to meet some of you there

No promises, but I'm going to try to be there as well. Since Dry Branch is my favorite band, it would work out well to see M. Pleasant and DBFS the same evening!

great to see some interest. For the money this festival is second to none as far as having a great line up at agreat price. This is their first year and I think they're doing it right. it's at a park at a canoe rental so it should be a nice setting for some good music.
Saturday's line up is stacked it will be my first time to see steffey live as well as Siera Hull tons of mandolin talent in those two alone.

Just think of all those other groups that have to follow us....Steffey himself might get discouraged after he hears of our stellar abilities.

It will be fun and I will look forward to letting you see the Ellis.

My Dad still lives in Xenia. I sent him the web site and told him to check it out. He likes Bluegrass so maybe he can get there for a few of the shows. I left Xenia in 71 when I went into the Marine Corps after high school. I went back the day after the tornado in 74 to find my former bedroom blown to Cleveland or Toledo!

Anyway, hope the festival is a huge success!

just wanted to remind everybody of the festival coming up this friday -sunday 16-18th. many great mandolin players wil be there including adam steffey w/ dan tyminski, and sierra hull w/ ron block. There will also be instruments set up by jason harshbareger of highland strings, and I think Will Kimble will have a booth their. it is in xenia, oh at the green county fairground so there's plenty of camping and i think the 3 day pass is $40. other bands include jetts creek, dry brancjh fire squad, king wilkie and the grasscals
