Anyone have any experience with Folk of the Wood in New Mexico? I'm thinking of buying from them and wonder about their service and reputation.

Thanks for the link. #I did a search but didn't see anything. #I read about their trade in policy and it did say they may not pay you until they sell it (depending on your item).
I also realize the bad experiences usually get voiced more than the good. #I just hope mine is fine. #They seemed pretty nice over the phone. #Talked to 4 different people. #I did end up getting something from them off Ebay for a great price (non-mando). #I asked here since it looked like they are a pretty bluegrass oriented store.
By the way, the item was a used Godin LGX electric guitar with a piezo pickups and seymour duncan humbuckers.

If it means anything, I'm a reasonably happy Folk of the Wood customer. I called them with an intent to buy either a Rigel A+ Deluxe or a Weber Absaroka, and was talked into a Weber Gallatin. I am immensely satisfied with its sound and playability (one of the sweetest instruments I've ever played), so all's well that ends well. Only minor glitch was a promised strap which never showed up.
P.S I should add that I've since asked Mickey many questions via e-mail and have received polite, excellently detailed replies to all, which have proven dead on.

I've purchased four instruments from Folk of the Wood over the last few years & 3 out of the 4 were shipped to the wrong address. I also asked for a tracking number on all shipments but never received any communication as to when/how they were shipped.
My FOTW experience was flawless. I purchased the slightly used Phoenix Deluxe #296 which remains listed on their website ten months later. I received the tracking number, it arrived promptly, and they threw in a video tape, leather strap, Korg tuner, and a small handful of various picks.

Search this board for references to FOTW. You'll find a lot of opinion.
My FOTW experiences have been a mixed bag. They answered all of my questions in a professional and informative manner. They are a VERY friendly bunch. However, I think it is maybe due to a lack of organization that they promise things they can't do. They promise a set-up on each instrument they ship. Maybe I am pickier than most, but the set-ups are minimaly acceptable (in my humble opinion). And I have made more than one purchase from them. I recieved an OM from them that they said was going to be set-up with a new set of strings...Well, it played ok right out of the box, but the strings were dead and they were the original strings that shipped on the OM. So I would deal with them again, but I would have lower expectations. Hope this helps a little.

The guitar came quickly, and was as advertised. Actually even better than I expected for a 1998 model. I'm satisfied (and relieved).
