I'm hooked on this tune after watching the YouTube clip from Down Under. I bought the Hartford album too which like "Speed" and "Hamilton" is great. I re-keyed Mike Strangeland's tabedit transcription into Finale so I could get a nice clean piece of sheet music.

That particular transcription isn't how I hear the tune. This has actually been discussed before I think. There is a new .tef file on mandozine transcribed from the playing of Red Henry that sounds "right" to me. YMMV....
This is an infectious tune. I love to play it!

Just a note to viewers, if the image above doesn't look so great on screen it looks fine when you right click and save the image then view in an external viewer.

Hartford's version puts some more notes in there then the Compton/Dasspunk version that got me hooked on the tune.
The latter version definitely more Monroe-ish.

Never heard Red Henry's version but it is interesting that whoever did the transcription sets the tune in the key of A
but the notes look like they are in the key of G.

Most people play the tune in G right?
(Em chord starts the tune.)

This old thread (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=18;t=44052) might answer you question, or it might not...

Thanks; yup that answers some questions.

A5 chord = Dorian mode
Em chord = Aeolian mode
