Is there a trick to playing the 11 and 12 fret on the G string, my Mid-Mo make a dead sound or a dull buzz sound on those frets, Sometimes I can ring the note but it hard. Les

It's not uncommon for some instruments to have problems with some frets on some strings (most commonly due to a combination of adjacent high frets and low frets). This is usually dealt with by setting up the instrument. Have your luthier check it out.

also check for loose frets. rocking a fret steals energy from the vibration of the string, resulting in a very dull tone. if the problem is the next higher fret you will be able to detect it using a very thin piece of paper.
