View Full Version : Bare wood...

I'm thinking of buying a used mando. It's in perfect condition except for a chip in the head. It's an A style amd the chip is right on top, where the top curves to the side....between 1/8" and 1/4" diameter chip in the finish down to the bare wood. Is this a serious problem or is it common with used instruments. The mando has great sound and I love the appearance, aside from the chip. Should I be concerned about it?? Thanks....

That chip wouldn't bother me one little bit as long as the mando has the sound that you like and the price reflects that it is not cosmetically perfect.
I am not an expert on finish repairs but I am sure that it is a minor fix.
If everything else about the mando is what you want then don't worry about it.
I have run my headstocks into the wall lots when I get carried away pretending that I am on stage in front of thousands of adoring groupies.
No problem. Dings are all a part of it. They happen and are not the end of the world.
