I went to a jam recently and they played this song and assured me that it was a "jam standard". I have looked for the tabs but have not been able to find anything. Does someone have these? thanks,

Brian

It is in this book, tab and notation Bill Monroe 16 Gems (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0793595738)
There is a companion CD available separately, also called 16 Gems.

Don't know about a tab for this, but it's pretty straightforward. The main thrust will be a descending pattern in D:

We were (D) waltzing that (C#) night in (B) Kentucky (A)

something like that, mix up the attack with single notes, double stops, tremble, rests, etc.

Concur with Mando Ben, 16 Gems and the accompanying CD. You can find it on eBay all the time. Great old Bill Monroe collection, tabbed out by Butch Baldasarri as I recall.

For an online resource, it is in the Tabledit files on www.mandozine.com
A nice transcription by Mike Stangland. You can also find it in Roland White's book.

Roland White's book has a nice version in the key of D. I've been working on that one.

It's a good song to ry in many keys. Monroe did it in D on Columbia, E on Decca,
some do it in C; I find a lot of things in F, and I sometimes sing it in Eb (playing the guitar).
