Hi there folks - my first "new topic" posting. Excuse any mistakes. I'm trying to find out about the fit of a Phoenix mandolin in a Pegasus F Style case. There's a possibility that someone on the cafe might be able to check it out for me. I've tried Rolfe G on it but he doesn't know either. Thanks Sam Gifford, Pegasus Cases.

I'll try it for you with a Phoenix NeoClassical when I got home this afternoon if you haven't gotten the info prior to then.

Thanks Dan - if you have the ability to do it, can you take a shot or two of the fit please?
Thanks Sam

Sam,
Sorry, this is embarassing. My Pegasus turned out to be a Ameritage. Sorry that I couldn't help. I was sure it was a Pegasus. I'm losing it.

I'm in Lewiston Idaho with a Peg, in case there is anyone nearby with a Phoenix. If so, then please contact me with an email.

Hi , Phoenix gang :
wild estimate
lower point is in the same spot as on an F isnt it?
top point is an undeveloped scroll, and a mirror image of the bottom point , right?
I cannot see a problem, outline width of body etc different than all those F lookalikes?
Maybe someone with a Phoenix can make a paper outline, and mail it to Sam, or do an outline on a standard grid paper, and send a picture, over the web,
assuming picture can be reprinted and enlarged
so grid dimensions are same size on both ends of the transmission.

PEG/Lebeda F, quick test, here, flipped it over and case outward curve where points are, seems symmetrical

Hi chaps - nice to talk to you all. Rolfe already offered to fly over here with his mandolin at my expense to check this out. Can't imagine why not eh?
Anyway, the lower point is rearwards of the same point at the scroll on standard F's. When for instance I get a two-point #which has the upper scroll further back, I cut the inner moulding back a bit and reposition it to suit. Paula Barbour's yellow F case was like that.
If all else fails, Rolfe is going to send me a proper outline from his templates.
Apologies to Dan C for the trouble but thanks for jumping in so quickly.
Looking forward to hearing from the Phoenix gang.
Best Sam

Sam,
If there is no other solution you could send me a case and I will try it out and send the case back.

I have carried my Phoenix mandolin in my old F-5 shaped case. That indicates to me it would probably fit in the Pegasus. that is indirect, of course.
