Does anyone on the list have an opinion on this CD set? Seems like an excellent series and Mr. Statman has monster chops.
Just looking for a 2nd opinion before buying...

This was discussed a while ago in a forum I started -- because I had the same question. Do a search and you will find it. There were varying opinions, but I think a fair summary is: some amazing musical ideas, but chaotically or at least not systematically presented.

I searched on Statman and homespun and did not find anything. Pointer?

i think the book is awesome, a lot of useful techniques and ideas without wasting a lot of time teaching tunes. My kind of book.

I've only actually done anything with the first disc, but there's a bunch of advanced stuff, for those ready for it.

I really enjoy this set, and the fact that it DOESN'T teach tunes is one of my favorite parts. It is pure theory, maybe a bit heavy or meandering at points, but it is a very good basis. I've listened to all of the set, but really only had the chops to work on the first disc so far.
